Need Advice pls!

Hi all,

I recently got approved for the Citibank forward card and the ty card.

The forward cl is 2.8k and the ty Cl is 3.5k my highest. Is it possible to put some of my CL to let's say the Ty cars from the forward? I want to make one have have a 5k CL, if it is possible should I make the forward 5K or the Ty card 5K, thank you.

Re: Need Advice pls!

I don't want to combined the card into 1, I was wondering if it is possible to move some CL to one of the cards.. And my second question was should move CL from the Ty card to y forward or vice versa.

I want to have 1 card with a 5k CL that's why I'm asking if it is possible and has anyone recently did it.

Thanks

Re: Need Advice pls!

Not sure how much my experience can help in this situation, but I have a citi thank you premier and applied for the citi forward.  I was denied and attempted to move some of my current CL over to this new card and they said no.  This is probably due to them not wanting to give me the Forward card, but its the limited experience I have to offer.  Are you trying to get to $5k to get a Visa Signature card?  Good luck!

Chase Sapphire Preferred $12k | Chase Freedom $7k | Chase United MileagePlus Explorer $15k | Chase Hyatt Visa $11.8k | Chase Amazon Visa $3k | Citi TY Premier $8.5k | Amex SPG $13.5k | Amex HHonors $5k | Discover IT $9k | BofA Cash Rewards $6k | BofA BB Rewards $2.7k | Banana Republic Visa $3k

Re: Need Advice pls!

Citi is VERY unwilling to do this at all.  In the past they cited the CARD act as a reason (which apparently doesn't bother Chase).   I have four Citi cards (Forward, TYP 5x, Premier and AA Plat Select).   I was going to close my AA card, and tried to move my CL to another card.  I was told this is impossible.  I was finally moved to a retention specialist (who gave me an offer I accepted) but she told me for future reference, that to move a CL, you a) have to close the card, and b) a portion of the CL is retained "in case you want to reopen the closed card".  So in my case, the CL on the AA card is $15K, if I closed it I could move $10K to another card.

So, unless this is a YMMV thing (and others have had the same story), not nearly as friendly as chase, you have to close a card and lose some of the CL anyway.

I tried earlier this year to move part of a limit from one Citi card to another and they said that's not something that they can do.
