Hey guys I was talking to Citi in regards to my TYP card that I do not use. I asked if I could be transferred to retentions and once I was transferred I was offered these three offers:
1. If I spend $300 in the first 2 billing cycles I will get 3,000 TY points and for the next 16 cycles if I spend $300 I will get $300 bonus points each cycle so it will be about $12,600 TY points.
2. Earn 4 TY points per $ spent capped at $3,500 points -
3. Spend 3,000 in the next 6 months and earn $10,000 TY points.
I think #3 sounds best as it's less commitment and close to the amount of #1 but #1 is still more. What do you guys think? Which would you pick and should I focus my spend on this card now to get these points? Is it even worth it?
It partly depends on what other cards would have been used on the needed spend. Even 12K TYP isn't all that much ($120 on gift cards at best without transfers) so I wouldn't want a long spend committment for that.
So at most I would go for 3) (while 2 has a great earn rate, you can't do much with 3,500 TYP anyway!)
