Well, I've decided. It's going to be the casino. I'll break it in on gamblin', booze, and loose women.

American Express will doubtless be pleased, lol. Be sure to order lots of adult movies while you're at it.

I don't know where you live, but I want to move there Smiley Very Happy Seriously, no Starbucks in the middle of nowhere sounds like heaven.

Within 10 miles of where I am sitting right now are seven Starbucks stores, eight Dunkin Donuts stores, not to mention their outlets within supermarkets (including two Stop and Shop stores within 3 miles).

My father in law lives in a very different area; a few years ago while my wife and I were visiting her father on the TV news they mentioned the percentage of the US population who live within N miles of a Radio Shack store.  It was something like 93%, and Ron said, "we're in the other seven percent here!"

Re: Need Ideas for First Purchase on Amex Green

I did not get the chance to gamble away my Greenie; the account is closed.

Before I even used the card Amex billed me for the annual membership fee. I had assumed the first year's fee would be waived per the adverts.

I called Amex 3 times. The first CSR told me I had applied for the wrong Green card and would have to apply again, ??.The 2nd CSR could not figure out why I was being charged the AF but said she could do nothing about it. I waited till the fee was due and called again. This time I was told that because I had had a corporate card in the early 90's I was not eligible for the waived first year's fee. I elected to close the account and not pay the fee. I wanted the card but was miffed about the AF nonsense.

Actually it worked out ok. About a week after closing the card the TL popped up on my CR. I've now got another 18 year old TL on my reports.

It's good that you at least got something out of this. Amex's customer service seems to have suffered.
