Can someone tell me if the on-line American express websites small appl. process to see what cards are available is a soft pull like Cap one and Hsbc? Thank you in advance
Hard Pull. 1st card from Amex. 2nd 1 is soft.
Pre is a soft. If you actually app then its hard.
You mean the pre-qualify to see if there's any offers for you? It's soft.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
Yes, the prequalifier is a soft pull, like Cap1 and HSBC. Of course, if you actually go ahead and apply, then it's a hard pull.
There's only a hard pull if you decide to actually apply for a card.
Yes , it says---view your special offers, then asks for name, address and last 4 digits of ssn. but It doesn't say anywhere that your credit won't be affected like the Cap one and HSBC sites, so I am a little nervous, last thing I need is a hard pull right now.
If you are pre-qualified through that "my offers" tab on their site, are the odds typically good like USAA's my offers tab?

Are you sure you're looking hard enough. I could swear I remember it saying that. I'd check, but I no longer have that option since I'm a cardmember, and I don't feel like clearing cookies so my browser will show it. In any event, it is a soft pull.
