There are two versions.  I think the one with 40K is the one with the AF, which is 2x on all purchases, thus more direct competition with Venture.  The no AF as you say is only 2 x travel and dining.

$90 AF looks a lot though, as it doesn't have the transfer features of the CSP.

Agreed, wouldn't pay $90 for this over the CSP.

ANd it looks like after taking this for the first year for the bonus, my favorite card that I don't have (Priceline) is a reasonable competitor,  no 10% bonus and has a FTF, but no fee.

Yeah, when all the dust settles, the Priceline seems like a card to have on general principle.  2% on all purchases, no annual fee and on the Visa network has no downside.

In the long run, if I'm gonna have any Barclaycard, it would likely be this one.

Also, while a small bonus, the AF version does come with TripIt Pro, which usually costs $49/year for free. As with most cards it really depends on how you use it. If it meets your spending patterns then it's a good deal. The no FTF, world MasterCard (my first), 10% bonus redemption and ease of redemption make it worthwhile for me. Here is another good link regarding this card, price line and fidelity Amex http://hackmytrip.com/2013/01/case-for-cash-back-credit-card/ )
