Chase always honors a new bonus if it's witin 2 months. Amex will generally not, but will do so for "some" exceptions. Barclay, have no idea, and curious myself!

Success, mostly. The couldnt match the new terms exactly. I spoke with Stephsnie this morning at customer care (was transferred there after credit services) and after a 30 min phone call and a talk to her manager she was able to get me the 40k bonus miles!!! Hurray. Instead of 1k spend in the first 3 months I have to spend $750 in a single purchase and after it's been paid I'll get the full 40k pts. I'll take it. Remember your manners and use the CSR name a couple of times in phone call and you maybe surprised what you can do.
Nice! Glad you got the bonus! 40K makes a big difference.
Good advice on being courteous and civil with CSRs.
