New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

was this expected? When my nordstrom card went from store brand to Visa, it still kept the same account/date opened on my report.  Just was checking my equifax and it shows my previous JCP card was closed, and the notes say "transfer/sold/trade"

And now i have a new JCP MC that is showing as opened July 1st of this year.

Just wanted to make sure this is the story with everyone, if I had known that would be the case, I would have closed the account when transferred.

Did you ask for the PC or was it involuntary?  That could make a difference.

Re: New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

they did it themselves, I did not initiate anything from them.  Like most people, received the letter in the mail saying they were making the change.  Got it in the make  last week

Re: New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

I just spoke with a CSR and they said there is nothing they could do to modify the age of the account.

Re: New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

If it's like the Walmart discover "upgrade" and the mc is never activated the new account will not report.  I accepted the discover about a year ago, then decided to just keep the standard walmart card instead of taking the hit on the aaoa.

ive been sitting back waiting for someone to post their experience with the jcp mc...now the debate to activate mine or let it just go away starts.

Re: New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

I also noticed the new account on reports,,was sorta surprised by it 2, was wondering why I had score drops and then I saw why AAOA dropped by 6 mths.. It's cool anyway,, the old account will continue to give us time for about 10yrs if I'm correct. One thing good about it is a new MC w/o a HP..More reason to stay in the garden for me now...lol

Few more months score will return...

Re: New JCPENNEY MC is considered a new account

After talking to them and faxing in my credit report as proof, they have fixed it for me.
