@RBFool wrote:Hey all,
I'm looking at wanting to get a new system from newegg (cheapest for what I want) and I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I don't want a hard pull as I'm in the garden. I found out that they have what they're calling a "preferred account". From what I can tell is that if you have a newegg account you apply for this using the last 4 of you social (which automatically means SP, right?) and then they give you a answer.
If you look at the link: https://newegg.mypreferredaccount.com/index.xhtml it has BillMeLater in the upper right hand corder but it has Comenity Capital Bank at the footer of the page. My questions:
1. This is just another Comenity line, right? So the last 4 is like a pop up, only pretty static?
2. When should I SP? Should I wait until my express ages next month (just got it a couple days ago) or wait until my 2nd statement posts? Does it matter if I SP before either one of those?
I'm not 100% sure what info they see when they SP so I don't know if it matters etc.
Any info would be helpful! Thanks all!
I looked at the App and they ask for my full social so it will probably be a HP no?
Really?
https://newegg.mypreferredaccount.com/registration/index.xhtml
It shows only last 4 ssn on my form.
Yeah for me it shows I need my whole SS number.
I don't have any Comenity cards so maybe that is why?
Could be! I appreciate you telling me this though, it makes it interesting that you can't see it.

This link is for when you actually get an account and are trying to register it. I am assuming after applying then approval. This isn't an actual application for the preferred. Maybe that is where the confusion is coming in?
You go to the actual application and it asks for the full SSN among other things. And as everyone always says....always assume a HP.
I think adding a new TL will knock you out of garden no matter if it is a HP or a SP. However, if the offer pops up when you check out, you should be pre-approved. Meaning, the chances of denial would be very small. If you are cold applying, then check the credit pull db for you app success chance.
If you are just adding one additional TL, I wouldn't worry too much about your other CCC taking an AA based on the new account.
I've had my newegg preferred account for almost a year. Even though it asks for the last 4 its still a hp. It's "powered" by bill me later so it doesn't appear on your credit report. I'm able to hide high balances on electronics wth 0% interest and it not affect my util. They approved me with scores in the low 600's.
Edit:This account is worth it to me. You have to take the hard pull but the account has grown with me like all of my other comenity accounts. It's also a hidden tradeline so that definetly helps but won't really build a good credit report.
Ohhh I'm not happy now.
What I learned:
It's a hard pull. Even though they only need the last 4.
On the denial sheet they pulled EQ. no idea if they pulled more yet.
I was denied due to BK... Duh. Zero chance or recon, tried 3 diff reps.
