Next steps ? Is it time to garden ?

Newbie here, was a lurker for about 3 months before joining. I need some advice on my next steps. I had credit cards more than 8 years ago and paid them off and closed them after a divorce. Since then I have been an AU on 2 high limit low util cards that are both over 10 years old and have a mortgage and a heloc that are 18 months old and a 6 month old car note. My file goes back 20 years but with no real use in the last 6 years until I bought the house 18 months ago. I have one baddie on my record its an old util bill that I didn't even know about for 4 years I paid it off 3 years ago but they didn't delete it so it shows pif. I went on a small spree this past weekend and am wondering what my next steps should be . Here are the results of my recent spree:

Amex platinum - approved
Capital one quicksilver - 7 to 10 day  message was on my pre-qual list
Chase don't recall which card was on prequal list got 7 to 10 day message
Did the shopping cart trick for lane Bryant and got approved for $250.00

What should I do next , wait and see what happens on the chase and capital one? Call and if denied ask for recon? Should I apply for additional cards? How long do inquiries stay on file and when would be the best time to apply for more cards ? I don't qualify for usaa or nfcu which seem to be a little more lenient than some others. I really want to get over 750 in the next 2 years and have a couple of good high limit accounts with good rewards, cash back or travel.

Any advice you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Welcome to myFICO. IMO, it's always a good idea to garden after a spree. I try to garden for at least 6 months after apping for 2 or more cards. Good luck to you.

Re: Next steps ? Is it time to garden ?

I thought that might be best to garden. I will do the recon now and will wait on cap1.

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Next steps ? Is it time to garden ?

Let us know how the recon goes!

I was approved for Cap1 after getting the 7-10 day message, so there's still hope there.

I agree with others, Gardening for 6 months is probably not a bad idea. It will give you time to plan your next actions and see how much you even need new cards. Many people are surprised by how much they "want" shiny cards, but don't actually need more than 2 or 3 of them. I applied for all my cards in sprees at least 6 months apart, and it has helped keep my AAoA up above 4.5 years. Your AAoA is likely higher with those old accounts being on there, but it will only remain high with patience.

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $50,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Prestige (4/16) $30,000

Re: Next steps ? Is it time to garden ?

Good news ! I called Chase and my app was in verification status - I answered a few basic questions and was approved for $ 5500.00  chase freedom card.

should I call cap 1 now or just wait it out ?

Re: Next steps ? Is it time to garden ?

Congrats on the approvals!  As others have said I think now would be the time to garden after the Cap1 decision.
