My girlfriend is 23 and has 0 credit. Since we have big plans for our future, I figured now is a great time to start building her credit. I was blown away when she was instantly approved for a $3000 CL with barclay!! Amazing! (When I had no credit, i was approved for only $500 with cap 1)
Now with all the help I can get from you guys, we are on a mission to build her credit the quickest and most efficient way. Obviously keep under 9% balance and pay it off each month, her and I have agreed to this. What else should she do? Creditors like a mix of types of credit, should she apply for a Line of Credit with our bank in 6 months (her car is a nice hand me down so a car loan is out of question for now) Should she apply for a new credit card every 6-12 months? How quickly can she get an AMEX and try for the 3x CL Increase trick? And lastly--what can she expect her credit score to start at in about a month?
Thanks as always guys!!!
Congratulations on your GF approval for the Barclay CC! May she continue Success in The World of Credit Cards!

Go for the amex in 6 months and shoot for the 61 day CLI. Amex was my second card and approved me for 2k with either 4 or 6 months of history. I wouldnt get a line of credit from your bank unless you need it. $0.02
