Re: No more GECRB/Walmart Love for me this year....

I have a Walmart card, a Belk store card and a Paypal Extras MC through GE.  I called and got increases on the Walmart card and Belk card in August and opened the Paypal account that same month.  A couple weeks ago, I called and tried to get CLIs on all three cards (even though I was a month shy of the recommended four months) and got denied with all of them saying something to the fact that I haven't established enough time with the current limits I have.  Then, yesterday, I logged into my Paypal card account and saw that they did an auto CLI on the card from $2000 to $3000. My Walmart and Belk limits are the same.  I'll try again at the end of December for increases on all three cards.  I am going to try for $4000 on the Walmart card (currently at $2000), $2000 on the Belk card (currently at $1000) and $5000 on the Paypal MC, which leave me plenty of room for negotiating if they want to counteroffer.

If it hasn't been four months since you last got an increase, definitely try waiting the four months.  If it has, wait a couple of months and try again.  I always pay in full every month and very rarely ever put more than 10% on a card at any time, so you may want to make sure your utilization as low as possible.  Good luck!

Barclays USAir World MC $8300 - DCU $7500 - USAA World MC $7000 - PayPal Extras MC (GE) $5500 - Chase Saphire Preferred $5000 - Discover It $6000 - Barclays Sallie May $2700 - Chase Freedom $1000 - Capital One $8500 (business) - store cards ranging from $500-$9500
