OMG!!!!! American Express backdate

AmEX backdated my member since date to 1982!

but I don't know what this really mean or how would this new account be reported on my credit report.

Right now my AAoA is only .04 years...would this go up?

Plesse se help me to understand!

Re: OMG!!!!! American Express backdate

It won't be reported as a new account. It'll be reported as a 33 year old account! Very big deal for your AAoA!

Upon manual review, lenders will see it's actually new, but for FICO scoring purposes, you've just hit the jackpot!

I tought I was the oldest backdating person here  - 1986 - you beat me by 4 years. Your AAoA will definitely jump up! Mine did within a month on all CRAs. Good job!! Smiley Happy

Re: OMG!!!!! American Express backdate

How is your AAoA only 0.04 years if you have one account reporting that is that old?  The Amex will definitely make your AAoA increase which helps you look more established.

Still just 15% of the score though...  I've never quite understood all the excitement (or unwillingness to close accounts due to an AAoA hit despite the fact accounts in good standing report for 10 years) about AAoA.

Maybe it's just me... Smiley Happy

I agree in regard to hitting the AAoA lottery!  Smiley Happy

Just curious, how do lenders see it as a new account on manual review?  I opened an Amex ED a couple of months ago and Amex backdated.  My credit reports show the account as opened in 1997, which is what Amex backdated to.  Is there another way that it can be detected via manual review?  Thanks!

I've got you both. Mine is 1980. But there's another member with 1976.
