It sounds like cap one is the oldest trade line account. I wouldn't advise canceling it b/c it will drop your AAoAs. I would keep it open and just not use it. Cap one never gives CLIs...
Nice card to have love my Freedom over Discover. Like the previous poster said if it's your oldest account keep it if you can afford it, if not drop them if they don't drop my anual fee I will drop them in December, GL.
Chase, is in the giving mood. I just got me a Sapphire preferred visa sig this week. I just got the Chase Southwest RR about 7 months ago.

this is wrong, closed cards in good standing stay on your report for 10 years. in 10 years the OP will hopefully have long history so the lost of the card then will have very little impact. The only reason not to close a card is that it will effect your total UTL.
The AF is not terrible, if you don't need the card close it, if you can think of any reason to keep it that is worth $20 keep it open.
talked it over with my wife and i guess ill keep the cap1 account open but at 24.99% and $19 a year definatly not going to use it but once every 3 months or so just to keep them from canceling it. does any one know how long it takes them to cancel for non use. if i use it once every 6 months is that enough to keep it open. my uitl. is only 6% and now lower b/c of the walmart card and new freedom card. also the balance on the cap one card is ready to be payed as soon as the charge hits it from 2 days ago $34 from carryout lol than it will be payed off to $0. thanks mike
you generally wanna space your Chase apps by at least 30 days...you will almost always get a pending decision if you apply within 30 days
I'm not positive, but I think Capitol One has said they don't close inactive accounts. I once had a Capitol One account that I hadn't used for 10 months before I closed it.
thanks for the info koop i guess its sock drawer time for cap 1
