Re: Obsessed with Credit Cards/Credit Profile

I do spend most of the time since I have been working on rebuilding my credit. Just in July my scores were 490 to 500 and now they are 590 to 610. I'm showing improvement.

Keep it up!! I was 590-610 a year ago. Patience and hard work is the key!

I'm obsessed too. But it's hard not to be when you see how knowledge, hard work, and patience can pay off!

I think all of us here are obsessed to varying degrees. Except perhaps, those who have newly joined. Give them time. LOL!

Amen! I started out with med collections on all 3 burueas 2 years ago. Going from high 500s to high 600s feels amazing. All thanks to myFICO knowledge. Smiley Happy

I would have never known what a GW letter is, nor a Recon. My app wasn't approved? I would have left it at that. But thanks to recon I got a declined Chase Freedom approved and a 500 initial Sallie Mae to 2850.

daisymae850 - the biggest challenge for me was not knowing many of the things I learned on this website. My BK recovery likely could have been major improved but I was ignorant and did not know the "how tos."

+1

Even more than that I truly believe I could have avoided BK altogether if I'd known about myFICO and the vast knowledge here.

Every day when I wake up, I check my email on my phone hoping for a myFICO update. When I get to work, I sip some coffee, check the forums, and look over credit card prospects for the future. My coworkers and roomates say the same things, "you're obsessed" or "you've got a problem man." Maybe I do maybe I don't.

I can think of 4 cards right now that I want. AMEX(any) - Discover - Citi DC - CSP. I also want a mortgage and to fast forward 5 years to log on to myFICO, see 800+ score, and think, "wow man, I did it"

Is anyone else as obsessed as I am? Am I crazy?

Happy Halloween btw haha

Indeed.  First thing I do before I get out of bed in the morning, is reach for the phone and start checking for updates - myfico, forums, email.  I then load up mint to see an overview of my ten cards and determine if my payments have posted.  I really like how mint arranges the credit cards by higest balance.  I believe I am good on cards that I want at this time, but I have two cards that I want to PC;  Amex BCE to BCP and Chase Amazon.com to Chase AARP.  I am sure another card will catch my fancy soon enough, but I am gardening for 12 months.

Re: Obsessed with Credit Cards/Credit Profile

As a serious note - you could say that most people are obsessed with their career since they go to work every day, that's much different than someone obsessed with something unhealthy like gambling, overeating or drugs. It's about the end result. The end result of credit/career/knowledge obsessions are positives such as success, financial freedom & wisdom.

Don't worry about what others think. You can laugh when you drive by their clunker car in your newly financed BMW @ 1.24%.

AMEX BCP $35k | Citi Double Cash $30k | PenFed PlatRewards $25k | Barclaycard $40k | Chase Freedom $25k | BofA Cash Rewards $40K | US Bank Cash+ $4500 | Discover IT $25k | NASA Platinum-Advantage $40k | CapOne Quicksilver $15k | Amazon Card $10k | Ten years on myFICO from 510 to 780 scores

But, that is being overly positive about the forums!   At least some fraction are more likely to be "helped" to apply for a card that they cannot use well, just  because it is metal, or a card with useless rewards because it has a high CL, or get unnecessarily nervous about utilization etc.   So there is good advice here, but it is mixed in with herd-moving nonsense!
