For now I will stay in school because I will be taking an ROP class beginning Jan 14 2013 right after christmas break to hopefully get a job as a medical biller and coder in the summer So for now finish school and start my credit when I'm 18 in a half. So that I can either get into a joint or getting a good secured card. Like they say no credit is better than bad credit!
I was wondering if your parents have any credit cards to make you an authorized user?
@Trans92 My mom just added me to her Sears Platinum Master Card which actually asks or the AU ssn so hopefully that gives me a boost after 6 months. Also my dad and I have the same name so everytime I'm added as an AU it goes straight to my dads because he is more noticable to credit unlike me with no public record.

@jsickz32 wrote:hey im young too (21) i started my credit journey with BofA. i had checking with them since i was 16 and the same morning i turned 18 i went to my local branch to app for a card and was approved for their student plat plus for 1k. that same day i appd and was approved for Macys card with a 300cl. i gardened those 2 cards for 2 years with nothing but asking cli on my BofA card. i maxed my cards more than once and carried balances sometimes because being young and with credit sometimes you get crazy lol
we can tell by the number of cards in your signiture
j/k but seriously the younger you are more people tend to app a lot more. Quality over quantity
it was worth it! i went from 8.7k total cl to 43k
numbers don't mean much
would you prefer a 1,000 bottles of cheap house wine, or 1 bottle of Henri Jayer Richebourg Grand Cru? ($20,000 bottle of wine lol) but i guess it would matter more if your a perfectionist or a alcoholic lol
It's not a race to see what numbers you can get, I prefer having 1 credit line in 5 digits than seeing 5 credit cards 2k each

So?...
you should've graduated to 151 by now
@ObeyJohonny12 Can't wait. I already requested my credit report via My Fico but I don't have enough history for them to provide me with my score. Ill wait until 6 months and then see whats up Thats excellent what happened to your friend hopefully same happens to me. I 've gotta give it my best once I begin my course because it will provide me with an income which will allow me to begin my credit, and start to take on responsibility.
