I applied online for the old navy card today and it said they would send a letter within 7-10 days. So I took the advice here and called to see what was up. They asked me a few security questions and then said that I was denied for the visa card I applied for but they would open the old navy store card 250.00. I said that was fine butbut that I didn't apply for a visa. So my first question is.....were they just confirming it was me to process the application? Do you automatically apply for an old navy visa and get the store card instead because I have not applied for a visa with them. And why is that limit so low when they gave me 600.0000 with amazon an walmart? Is it because they gave me two other cards already?
They generally try you for the VISA first I beleive then they can offer you the store card if you dont qualify for the Visa.
$250 is low but it will grow. MAybe at the one year mark they will offer you an upgrade to the Visa.
+1 to CS800
Almost all GE cards (with the exception of amazon and stores who don't offer visa/amex/discover/mastercard versions) will first check your credit against their major credit card, and then if you can't be approved for that they will check you for store card, and if you don't qualify for that you get nothing.
$250 doesn't seem like a great limit but GE cards are known to grow exponentially.
Bad news, it's a low CL, good news, it'll grow. Just garden it well.
They won't give you a CLI now. Their starting CLs are pretty much in stone. But they do grow quickly. Last March, I got ON $200 CL. I've gotten CLIs every 4 mos based on what I learned here. On my 1 yr anniv, they offered me an upgrade to the ON Visa $4k CL. Of course, my overall credit has improved greatly in that year, as well.
I will just wait for a cli for utilization purposes. I will use the card and pif....that will be my least used card because I really only buy my son's jeans there every couple of months.
Thanks for the feedback
May I ask who they pulled & do you know your FICO score? I am wanting to apply for that card too, but I am a little nervous because I just got a GE card with Belk. Congrats on the approval.
