Many local credit unions offer secured cards. Mine graduated already. They tend to have the same terms as their regular cards, and lower interest rates. Mine did report secured, but it didn't hinder my Amex app. So that is a myth. Some reports state the date changed from secured to unsecured, but I note the comments seem to go away with time.
