Ouch. One new CC account reporting drops EX score 12 points?

That hurt. It also took away my lone 700+ score. 708->696. Ouch. It is a 10k credit card from NFCU that reported. I would think the 10k would do great for util, but ouch.

I miss my lone 700+ score.

Is EX notorious for hating new accounts or something? It didn't ding TU or EQ hardly any.

Yep, you've got it! EX hates new accounts like EQ hates lates.

FWIW, I lost 75 points, although 25 are back... It's the cost of upgrading credit, or at least that's the way I look at it.

If this is your only one, you should get the points back pretty quickly.

I still haven't gotten an inquiry on the Walmart Discover card I just got approved for on Saturday but it's already reporting to EX only, as of this morning.  As soon as I saw the account hit EX, I pulled a FICO score and EX jumped from 690 to 699.  Maybe FICO gave me a break since about half of my 10 accounts opened in the past year should be falling off of the new accounts radar next month.  They were opened in April 2007 so maybe they've already fallen off the radar and that explains the jump...I'm not real sure but I'm going to take my 9 point increase along with my new Wal-Mart Discover card that I've patiently waited a year to re-apply for and be on my merry little way.

Did it give you a significant boost in util or something?

Re: Ouch. One new CC account reporting drops EX score 12 points?

It went from about 17% to about 15%.  That could be it but I expected to take a bigger hit for a new account that would be greater than any point gain due to decreased utilization.  I've been working on my credit for a year now and still haven't learned anything.  But I completely forgot...I also got brave a couple of weeks ago and hit the luv button on my Citi card and got a $1400 CLI without a hard pull.  I bet that just reported too.  That would take my util down a little further also.

Exact same thing happened with my EQ today.  Its been taking some pretty hard hits lately and everytime I get a Scorewatch with a drop in my EQ, I don't even want to bother pulling my other 2 reports, I don't want to see them in bad condition too Smiley Sad
