The QS and QS One are just new breed of cards that replaced the two Cash Rewards cards that they offered.
It seems like they are throwing those out to everyone. I have a former HSBC card and they told me that they would be converting that to the Quicksilver One.
I'd only call it an upgrade if you went from one of the plain jane Platinum cards with no rewards. If you already had the old Cash Rewards or one of the HSBC 2% cards it's kind of the same deal or maybe even a downgrade in some cases.
