What does everyone think about the PRG for dining?
Only if you value MR's. CSR is 3X for dining. Freedom is 5X for this quarter.
If a better-earning card occasionally inconveniences you with false fraud alerts, there can be some peace of mind in paying with an Amex (which has a reputation for allowing large or unusual transactions to go through smoothly).
Amex can also be useful in a dispute if a caterer who requires payment before pickup misrepresents what you'll be receiving.

Csp is also 2x dining with a af far less than csr, and slightly less than prg. Also has no af first year if that matters
PRG is good for food in general – 2 points per dollar on restaurants and groceries. So whether you’re eating out or eating in, you’re covered. However, to answer your question: thoughts about PRG for dining? I think it is not enough to justify getting the card. If you just want to be rewarded for restaurant spend, there are plenty of options that do not have an annual fee and may yield more rewards. Do you plan to use the other PRG benefits? How would you like to be rewarded? How do you value MRs? How much do you spend on dining? Answering those questions will steer you towards the right card.

The CSR has a 450 dollar annual fee and PRG has no fee first year. Apples and Oranges.

Comparison with csp is more realistic since both cards have waived af first year .
The whole 2x points and 3x points don't matter here. If Chase points are worth $0.005 cent to you then the 3x wouldn't matter if Amex MR are worth $0.02 each. People quick to jump to the whole 'n' x points comparison.
You just have to figure out what value MR points have to you. You're good the first year since it has no annual fee and the good signup bonus, but if you plan on keeping it beyond that, then you'll have to figure out if having the card is worth the annual fee.
Do note though if you value MR points for $0.01 cent (at minimum) just using it for restaurant alone (and factoring in the annual airline fee credit) would require about $396 a month in dining out to even out at $0. So you'd have to use the other 4 categories (supermarket, gas, airfare, amex travel) to really make it worth the buck!
