Sorry if it's been asked before...but was on another board and saw someone say that it's easy to join now. So anyway....went to the website and clicked on help me join and saw that there were two groups listed that you could join to make you eligible. Has anyone joined PenFed via the two groups listed? There is a little disclaimer that even though members of those groups are eligible that it doesn't mean you would be granted membership at PenFed.
I feel like awhile back people mentioned joining a group to gain access to PenFed, but that was no longer working. Just curious before I waste money, and a possible inquiry on attempting to join. I want to join a good CU, mine sucks lol! I've tried finding a local one but none really seem worthwhile here. From discussion on several boards this seems to be a top one amongst customers.
Great thanks!
That's great! I just went to both websites to confirm. You can also become a member of Voices of America's Troops for $15 and still get in the door with NFCU. There is a blurb on penfed's site that states "(The non-refundable dues to join either association and thus become a PenFed member doesn’t guarantee you will be approved for any requested PenFed account, loan, or service.)" It's worth a shot though.
You can't apply for membership unless you qualify, and joining one of those groups qualifies you to apply.
When you apply, it will be a hard pull. You may or may not be approved for membership based on your credit.
That same hard pull can be used for multiple product apps over the next 90 days, such as car loan refi, credit cards, etc.
Search penfed success or penfed approval in the forum and see what you find.

I just went to NFCU website and I didn't see Voices of America's Troops option. How???
Ron.
If you have donated blood in past 12 months to Red Cross you are eligible.

Ron,
when you go here: https://netmember3.penfed.org/NetMember/Forms/OpenAccounts/Eligibility.aspx click on the last option, help me join another way and the options for either assoc will be there.
