Re: PenFed Offers...is this a joke?

WOW!! Congrats!  I recall that you were not thrilled with the app process from the outset because they had given you a hard time as a self employed applicant IIRC.

Perhaps taking it (or a portion of it) as a CLI and picking up the amex when you actually were planning on obtaining a new acct., may've been worth considering.  In fact, haven't come across a single post ever of a current lender taking AA in response to a CLI (of any amt) from another current lender FWIW.

Of course accept only what works for you but the idea that other creditors may freak at a new 45k CL may hold more water if carrying balances.  It may also be concerning if as PP one needed to stay under a threshhold for the CL to report, otherwise it would be their loss if they acted out in response to your good fortune IMHO.

Re: PenFed Offers...is this a joke? -EDIT: No joke!

Thanks, guys.

Score....you absolutely DID recall correctly. Good memory!!  I already called and spoke to the rep otherwise, I would have taken your suggestion about reallocating the extra CL to my other card. Darn. Why didn't I think of that? Oh well...live and learn. Maybe after I get the card I can get them to change the limit from $25k down to $20k and allocate $5k to my other card for a total CL of $10??

I was fine picking up the account now. I'd rather get the credit history built up long term and maybe get a boost from my other cards after they see this CL on my reports, then worry about my AAoA

Out of curiousity... What type of ARPs did they offer you?  And what was your final APR on the card you accepted?

APR I believe is around 13%, it's a rewards card so that's to be expected. They did have another card offer that was not a rewards card for 7.99% I believe it was.
