Re: Plan to improve FICO by reducing UTI - Need advice please

Are HHGregg, Walmart and old Discover showing on your credit report?  They would show open/closed status if it was in the last 10 years, I thought.  If they're still open, that would already count towards your utilization.  Unless there's something I'm missing.

Re: Plan to improve FICO by reducing UTI - Need advice please

Update: I checked my 3 reports, and this is what showing

Accounts

1 Installment (that's the vehicle loan)

11 Revolving accounts, only 5 accounts with a balance. Debt to Credit is 66%, total monthly payment is $770

No negatives. No Collections.

Length of Credit History

9 Years, 11 Months

Average Account Age

5 Years, 8 Months

One exception: my old Discover Card (opened in 2009, CL $3,000 with APR 13.29%, which has not been used since 2011, has $0 balance) has a remark "Consumer disputes this account information" since 09/2013. I have never disputed anything with any credit company.

I called Discover, and they said that the card may have reported lost around that time (which is untrue since I never called Discover until now). The CSR said that she saw nothing on their end, so she suggested that I call the 3 CRA to inquire about the problem.

I did, however, ask her to send me a new card to make sure that the card is in my possesion.

Any thoughts please?

I'd say SD the cards rather than use, and honestly, your credit score, at least for now, shouldn't be your concern.  Pay down the balances and trust that it will go up but don't worry about it.  With 65% util, it's time to garden.

In the garden until debt is paid off and scores are up!

Re: Plan to improve FICO by reducing UTI - Need advice please

According to the denied and approved letters, my credit score is TU 678, Equifax 715, Experian 687. Will see the actual FICO score on the 11th when Discover IT card statement closes.

After much thought, I  have a revised plan as follow:

1) Transfer $2,990 from Chase Slate to BofA and transfer $1,000 balance from Citi Simplicity to BofA. That will result in BofA having a balance of $4110 (incl. the BT fees)

The Chase Slate will report $0 balance on 05/27/2014 (give or take a few days - they reported on 04/27/2014)

2) Pay off Citi Simplicity on 05/16/2014 or so. The $0 balance will not be reported until 06/04/2014 (they reported on 04/04/2014)

3) Pay down balances on Card #1 and #2
