Yes they are

So should I remain with my original thoughts...and that is that this "preselected" offer(s) doesn't really mean that they will even allow me to have a card? Is it just advertisement?

Does anyone know the answer to my questions about if they get our information by doing a "soft pull" or have they not even pulled my credit at all to get these preselected letters? Anyone know?

Yes they are checking your credit, yes it is a soft pull. An easy way to find out is to pull your report, you get one free one from each bureau yearly, and there will be a section that lists soft credit pulls. While nothing is guaranteed, generally if you have an invitation code it's a better chance of approval. Just wait till your baddie falls off and you have a good shot assuming you have no other baddies...

I assume this is the section that also shows all of my pulls as well? The place where it states that only I can see those pulls and that it doesn't affect my credit rating?

Re: Preselected offers flowing in now

Yes, that is the "soft pull" section. I surprisingly have very little in mine, so I suspect it is more a mass mail to the CRAs to send us a list of people who meet XXX criteria.

My Chase invites are because I am a FF. The others are just what they send anyone with a pulse who went through a rough patch creditwise...crummy deals hoping I will be in such straits that I will bite.

I did the strategic default and only defaulted on a few, so recovery theoretically should be faster...though the clean slate of BK7 is actually rewarded far faster than default of a few. YMMV.

Re: Preselected offers flowing in now

I haven't really got a chance to look them over thoroughly and see what type of deals they are, since I'm still waiting for the last negative thing to fall off. I don't want to jump the gun.

I did receive another AE today, called "Blue Sky" rewards. It's just weird receiving these again.

Another problem is, a lot of the mail comes in my former married name instead of my remarried name (which I have been remarried for over 7 years now and my credit report still reflects my previous name). I'm not sure how I would go about "accepting" one of the offers that flow in when it comes time because it's actually the "wrong" name. Smiley Surprised

So, since it's been such a long time since I use to get these mailings, just how easy is it to usually get an approval from them?

The first sentence in your post has your answer.  Preselected really doesn't mean anything.  It does not indicate your odds of approval which will vary from card issuer to card issuer.

Can't address accepting the offer but you should update your name with the CRA's

I'm not sure how my first sentence has my answer. ??? I use to get these mailings with offers all the time back when I had perfect credit. Once my credit was ruined, I no longer received offers. Now my credit is almost back to completely clear again, I'm getting the offers. So I'm not sure what you mean by your comment. Smiley Indifferent

Every time I have pulled my credit report, I have used my now married name and it says it on the top of the file. Also when they send me copies of my report, it has my now married name on it. However, it list my ex husband as my spouse still for some reason. So I'm not sure why the cc companies some times come in my old name.

Re: Preselected offers flowing in now

If there's a notice on the bottom of the offer about "opting-out", then they likely SPed your file.

What does SPed my file mean? Would they have done a soft pull or not?

Re: Preselected offers flowing in now

SP'ed is short for soft pulled Smiley Happy

I'd wait the last month, then go to the pre-qual sites to check your chances at approval for Chase/Citi/Barclays, etc.  IMO Chase and Citi tend to be (but not always) the most accurate/successful.

800+ across all three (via FAKOs) has been achieved! Current goal - Get down to 6 cards in total - sitting with 8 currently.
