Probably a dumb question...

On your CR, under each individual account where it says Date Updated, is that the date the credit card ACTUALLY sent info to the CB, or just the date it is accurate as of?

Re: Probably a dumb question...

I'm pretty sure it's accurate. I see no inconsistencies on my report. Month/year is accurate for me.

Re: Probably a dumb question...

One in the same - it's the date the file entry was last updated or reported by the lender and because its the latest information the CRA has concerning that account its accurate as of the latest information they (CRA) have.

Even though some accounts seem to lag sometimes (especially Equifax for me) the line entry does not actually reflect the exact picture as of today. Most maintenance updating is done once a month by lenders, this would include things like payments, balance and credit line increases.

And remember: there are no dumb questions Smiley Wink

If you notice a huge inconsistency with your open date from when you actually got the card or opened the account, you can always dispute it with the respective CRA.
