Since Amex no longer backdates, I would keep it open as long as you can and perhaps when your finances increase in the future, you'll find a relationship with them more useful and maybe then you can PC your ED to a different prodcut while keeping your original MSD. Otherwise, close it if it really doesn't serve you and causes you anxiety.
