All within the first year of opening. The only certain "rule" is to PC to a lower AF or No AF card. PC options are there but very limited.
I don't know if Amex has retention specialists, but I seem to get good on-shore reps when I tell the automated system I'm calling to "cancel a card" even though I'm only looking for PC options.
I heard the same thing but tried calling anyway, low and behold after having my Gold Delta Amex for just a few weeks Amex PC'D me to the Blue Cash Everyday! I don't think there are specific rules anymore converning PC's. I personally PC'd an annual fee card to a no annual fee card, it wasn't a cobranded card I PC'd my Cobranded card, and I didn't wait the 12-13 months I hear people mention on here all the time. So, the moral of my story is, try and call rather than ask forum members who may have had a good or bad experience doing a PC
There's no harm in asking -- in fact, I find out more from the forum sometimes than from the actual CCC.But, in terms of PCs, the chat is usually my go to place because they seem to always lay out all of the options I have for me and explain them if I need explaining. Very nice and patient people..
Oh absolutely! What I meant was that AFTER I get a concensus from my friends in the forums I usually call the CCC anyway. Sometimes people will give THEIR experience with a creditor and make it seem like if it's an across the board rule, which most things aren't. Someone may be able to PC, someone else maybe not. And if at first you don't succeed, try try again

Aloha, called Amex on this yesterday. Was informed the ONLY card I can PC to was the Hilton honors card. No others are available. If I wanted a BCE, I would need to apply for it. FYI, called in with zero balance, and have been with Amex since 7-13.
Got to thinking maybe this csr was not well informed. Called back a a second time, and guess what no deal.

So if that is case guys. And I apply for another. Like edp. Will I be able to move limit from delta to edp as well then close it? I'm not changing anytime soon. I just wonder because of new information of 1 dollar per 1 mile rate. Useless. Unless buying delta.
I am in the same boat. Delta Gold was my gateway card into Amex (and high end cards in general) and now coming up for renewal I really have no use for it. I have the Delta Platinum but that one doesn't renew until the Spring. Ideally I would like to PC into EDP so i can also cancel my PRG when the AF hits shortly. I am a fan of Amex offers so I don't necessarily want to close TLs.
I have an AR put on my charge cards back in may (hard limits) (too many cards opened within a short period). So back in Sep when I tried to 2x CLI on an existing card i was declined and the existing AR was referenced. So part of me thinks that i may have a shot for a new app via recon? App for EDP, call to recon and tell them to move CL from Delta Gold.
Current Amex portfolio:
Platinum (keeping)
PRG (would like to PC but may consider keeping it if I don't get an EDC)
SPG
Delta Gold (AF will hit this month)
Delta Platinum (AF hits in the spring)
This is what I got from the chat last week when asking to PC from Delta Gold:
Here is the list of cards that you can upgrade into..
STARWOOD PREFERRED GUEST CARD FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS Annual fee is $65.00
HILTON HHONORS CARD FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS $0
HILTON HHONORS SURPASS CARD FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS $75
PLATINUM DELTA SKYMILES CREDIT CARD FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS $195
Worst case scenario given that the AF will post this/next month I either close the Delta Gold TL and move the CL to SPG. I can offset loss of the card for Amex Offers by asking for additional cards in my name on existing accounts.
I tried requesting a PC online but no success. I'll probably try calling them later today and see what they can do. I'm sure that I have to wait until my card is a year old.
