BCG, I've asked AmEx about this a few times recently, and every time have been told by AmEx CSR that you can't do product change from a charge card to a regular cc, or vice-versa.

I concur, however, I did read that someone here who had the Green card for a really long time was able to convert it.

once your foot is in the door with green, just apply for the blue!

That would be me.  Had a Green (charge card) for 19 years, changed to Blue (credit card).  It's a different account number but keeps all the history.
