Update: I just got a PC. I kept calling both numbers and was told no numerous times. Eventually I managed to get the same analyst as my first call and he transferred me to a different department. This lady put me on hold to check out for a PC. She transferred me to a third department.
This guy offered me two options: iTunes Visa or Rewards Mastercard. I picked the rewards card. He did a run down of the new terms said I would earn 1000 bonus point on first purchase (opposed to 2500 or 5000 when applying). Card should be here in a couple weeks but my current card will begin earning rewards in 3-4 days.
It's true. Just keep calling.
So I've seen the larger topic about people getting their Apple Visa changed the Rewards MC. I've been calling but they keep repeatedly telling me that the option isn't available to them. This is actually different than the flat out no I was getting before as they seem to be checking on it. Is there anything that triggers allowing the option to be available? The card is almost a year and a half old.
I haven't asked to be transferred to a closing specialist yet because I don't actually want to risk them just closing the card. My TU report should only have 3-4 inqs with two being Barclay.
I guess just continue trying?
Edit: Also which number am I supposed to call? I called the Credit Analyst number first and he told me I called the wrong number. I'm supposed to call Customer Care?
I would be curious to know this as well. I tried to PC this card and was told that it was not possible. I have had the card about 4 years, always pay in full, and they even offered to close when I threatened it.
Of course PCing has its advantage, but if they keep saying no, you could close and apply for another better Barclays card
The Priceline Visa from Barclays is a better card than the Rewards. But you have to get the offer from Priceline (https://www.juniper.com/apply/LegacyLanding.action?landPage=28161&referrerid=0000000000&obcreative=0...
as that gives 2% on everything, whereas the link from the Barclays page is 1%.
I've been eyeing that Priceline card. I have 2 grandchildren on the way on the opposite sides of the country, so flying will be in my days to come (A LOT). I'm in the garden and don't want another HP though. Maybe next year.

Thanks for the update. I will try again.

Congrats on your PC. It was just one phone call for me and was handled very quickly. I think that its YMMV with their csr because I have read too many cases where people were getting the run around about not being able to PC.
Anyway I did my PC from the Apple Visa to what I thought was the Rewards MC 2 weeks ago. I got the card a few days ago but its a Visa and not a MC. It has the same benefits as you described above. Not a big deal for me but I thought it was being switched to a MC. Other than that the card looks just like the pic on their website except it has the Visa logo on it.
Speaking of Barclay PCs, it would make sense they may allow for product changes into the Rewards or Arrival cards, but not between affininity cards. I'd still try, but wouldn't expect a yes. Otherwise, everyone would apply for the NFL card's bonus ($600 statement credit when all said and done), and then just PC to the Priceline for the 2% spending.
