Question about Citi and Inquiries

Does anyone know what is considered "recent" inquiries when it comes to Citi? Is it any inquiries within the last 6 months, or last 12 months, or last 2 years?

I know they deny people a lot for too many inquiries, so I'm just trying to figure out which inquiries they count. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Generally Citi is thought to mainly consider inquiries within the last six months.  I have found that they are not as inquiry sensitive as some say but of course it varies on your credit profile.  I'm a firm believer that 'too many inquiries' is never the real reason for a denial.  There is something else in your file that concerns Citi or any other creditor and that denial reason is a ready made excuse

Within the last 12 months was what they once told me approx 1 year ago.

Re: Question about Citi and Inquiries

I just got a Citi DC last month with 12/13 inq's on both EX & EQ.  TU has the least at 7 now.  Many new accts.  But I've had their Diamond card since Nov.  You never know what they're going to do.  And most of the time, they pull 2.

Re: Question about Citi and Inquiries

Not just Citi but most card companies it's 12 months that are looked at, but 7-12 month old inquiries aren't nearly as impactful as 1-6 months.

Re: Question about Citi and Inquiries

Difficult I had 4 inquiries today with a TU fico of about 700 and I was instantly DENIED Smiley Sad of course the inquiries are a few months old. I spoke to the citi supervisor credit specialist and he did mention to many credit inquiries in the past six months. They are tough. Of the four inquiries was from Home Depot where I was approved. That one was inquiry #2 the rest were all multiple applications for BBY I wish I had that card darn.

I'm sorry to hear about your denial. Which card were you going for? Was "too many inquiries" their only reason for the denial?
