So I just received my Zync card today and I have a ?. It seems that the rep said welcome and thank you for being w us since 2005, as well as when I logged in it says member or whatever it says since 2005! This is when I was an AU on my husbands Amex blue cash back then, but the account since has been closed he defaulted but paid it in full. Now, fast forward I am in with Amex family but had a question on them backdating do they report it this way? I noticed online it says 2005 but yet my Zync card says member since 2010 so I am confused???
Does it matter?? By the way my husband had 2 Amex cards Blue Cash, and at that time it was a Knot Credit card we used for our wedding both we defaulted but we did PIF. So he was approved for the Gold card today!! I guess they do end up forgiving it as long as you did pay them in full.
I'd be more interested in what it says on your credit report than on the physical card or the online access.
Congrats on both of your approvals!

They forgave me and gave me a Blue even though I settled for less than full balance years ago (but still showing on my report).
I recently received an Amex Premier Rewards Gold. When I first got the card, it said member since 2010. I called them and told them about an account I had opened in 1998, closed in 2004 in good standing. They couldn't find it but said they would investigate. A couple days later, my online account said member since 1998. I got a new card a few days after that. And on my credit report it shows an account opened in 1998 with perfect payment history. Gave me a bit of a score jump.
The date on a new card is plunked on there by whatever card-printing outfit AmEx does business with. If your card is being printed in a batch with other brand-new cards, I can easily see it having 2010 as the year.
You can get it replaced, as others have mentioned, but it doesn't matter. The card will be scored by the date that's on the credit report. The date on the card is only good for impressing the waitress at I-Hop.
Too funny and true !
Don't kid yourself, the waitress at i-hop doesn't care!
