Before I actually purchased my home I used to put own because I thought it would make me look better lol. Discover called me before they would approve to verify some things and the first thing he asked "you said own but I see no mortgage on your credit report" lol. I told him I inherited the property so hence no mortgage, he said oh okay your approved. So if they do happen to call you you can just lie and say you inherited property, because some people are actually lucky enough that it really does happen.
