I sure agree with that!  I am in a similar situtaion with B of A.  As you can see within my siggy below, I have most CL's in the $5K to almost $12K range.  My B of A card is $700 - a fraction of the others (so little that I do not even list it below).  They will not give me a CLI.  It may be becasue I do not use it often, but mainly becasue if I even put a tank of gas on it, the UTIL for that card would be !0% or more.  Kind of a catch-22.  I do want to keep the card open, as it is my greatest AAoA, so closing it would have an impact on my AAoA.  This B of A card even has like a $25 annual fee on it, which is rediculous for a $700 CL, but I look at it as worth $25/year to help the AAoA as much as it does.

In My Wallet: Discover $73.7K; Cap1 Venture $51.7K; Amex ED $38K; Amex Optima $2.5K; Amex Delta Gold $18K; Citi Costco $24.5K; Cap1 Plat $8.4K; Barclay $7K; Chase Amazon $6K; BoA Plat $21.6K; Citi TY Pref $22K; US Bank $4K; Dell $5K; Care Credit $6.5K. Total Revolving CL: $300K+
My UTIL: Less than 1% - Only allow about $20 a month to report, on one account. .

PM's are a bad idea for this.  A quick search of THIS forum shows lots of posts.

Use Lexie's version:

Thank you...I've read numerous posts on here but they are all asking and getting PM's regarding it.  I did check the link you included and that is showing the same email I had googled and found myself.  I just didn't know if that were right or not because it said it was directly to the CEO so I thought maybe everyone else was sending them to an executive team member or something.  But anyway...thanks for the help and I'm just gonna go ahead and send it to that one and see what happensSmiley Happy

Re: Quicksilver

My experience with CapOne has been similar. They give very poor CLs. I began with $1.5K and after 4 years and contacting the EO, I was CLI'd to 5K when I asked for 25K. Right now most of my CLs are $25K or more. BoFA is worse. I'm still stuck at $1K and I'm not adding another HP on my report for a CLI.

Re: Quicksilver

I guess I don't feel so bad then....I applied yesterday for QS.  Was approved for $500.  I was hoping for a little more.  I was disappointed...

Re: Quicksilver

I'm starting to wonder if C1 goofed with me. I got approved the other day for $3K on the C1 QS1 card, and my next highest is a $750 limit. I'm not complaining by any means. It just seems that some people have higher scores than me and got approved for a lot less. I'm really new to all of this so I must be missing something.

Re: Quicksilver

Same here.  I just applied, and was approved for $1K limit.  My next highest limit is also $750, so overall I'm pretty happy.  Plus this will be the first time having a card that gives rewards.  My scores are not all that great either, but they did just recently increase slightly.  Perhaps that helped?  But it does seem that other people have better scores and credit profiels and are being approved for less :-(  I should add that I did not have a pre-approval.

Did you have a pre-approval in hand before the app?

A little background, I have been a CapOne customer since late 2006. Over the years, I have had 3 accounts with them. One was originally Orchard, one was a Platinum with credit steps and one is a no hassle rewards with no AF. Over time, I cancelled the first 2 cards because there was no hope for a decent CL and I built my credit up enough to qualify for Prime no AF cards. About a year ago, I was ready to cancel the last card because the card originally had an AF and the limit seemed to be stuck at $2k. The EO ended up PCing to the no AF card and quadrupled the limit, which was more in line with my other credit cards.

A few days ago I received a letter from Capital One saying I was pre-approved for the Quicksilver card. I read all of the information they sent, went to their website to check for any additional information and scoured the internet for even more info. After very careful consideration and verifying without a doubt that this was for the Quicksilver Visa with no annual fee, which CapOne describes as "for excellent credit" and not the Quicksilver One MC I decided to go ahead and take the bait. I received the bright, happy looking instant approval message! Congratulations! YOU'RE APPROVED!!!! Your credit limit is $500!!! For a second, I was a little disappointed because I thought the limit was only $5000 and then I realized there was a 0 missing. Went straight to instant chat and they too said Congratulations, your credit limit is $500. Called a "specialist" who congratulated me on my new card with the $500 limit. Asked to speak to a supervisor who said....well I'm sure you can guess.  Every step along the way each person verified that this is the Quicksilver Visa with no annual fee "for excellent credit". Of course the only answer I got from ANYONE was the same old company line "we are a conservative lender" and an explanation of all the "great benefits" that come with my $500 limit.

I have no derrogatories, 100% on time payments, low utilization, a 4% debt to income ratio and not a single red mark with ANY of my creditors. This is from the same bank that sends me offers every single week telling me I am preapproved for an auto loan of $45k and a mortgage for $265k, but the best they can do for a credit card account is $500. Maybe I'm wrong, but I actually feel insulted to the point that I'm ready to completely cut ties with them, but they are my second oldest account and that card has a good limit. I emailed the EO so I should hear something from them within the next few days, but I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of CapOne issuing this card with such a ridiculously low limit? Is it possibly a mistake and when I receive the card it will actually have a much higher limit?

@this is a clear case for the EO. Did you contact Cap1 EO and if so what was the outcome?  I fully understand your frustration ... getting offers for QS for excellent credit and then a limit of 500$ !!!  That is by far the worst I have seen from Cap1.   When I apped in 12/12 I got the QS Visa Signature with 5K limit  with no prior relationship and today it is @11K  and I have been going crazy with adding a ton of new accounts.  9 accounts of less than 2 yrs and Cap1 did not care and increased my limit.

What is the status of your complaint to the EO?  Did I miss it? I am curious as I really do not understand what happened here as Cap1 issues QS1 cards with higher limits Smiley Sad
