Well, I was getting all excited about the 'PENFED' info until I looked it up and it is, once more, for Military, family members, workers any kind of Fed Gov't connection.  I just stated that we don't qualify for any Federal Credit Union.  Closest I can come is USAA as I was dumped by my lovely LT. Col after 23 years of marriage (he eventually married the 'woman he didn't leave me for) and I was summarily booted out of the infrastructure I had lived in for 23 years.  Don't I get a break somewhere?

You can join PenFed via joining the National Military Families Association (NMFA) first (or simultaneously, if you call PenFed and open the share account on the phone with one of their CSR's).

That's how I got a toe in with PenFed, though I was turned down for their CC at the time.

There's your break. Smiley Wink

Re: Rant about Juniper Low CC limit with FICO of 710

Juny gave me a $500 limit with a 720 credit score. I'm coming up on 6 Months and if I don't see a increase I'm gonna close the card.

Which Juni card?

CCCU will pull hard on EX and soft on EQ. Takes a little while but they are great. I think Cap One will combine your cards. They did mine.

Just so you know, we applied for CCCU with a Ch. 7 BK over 7 years old and got declined. I've considered doing a recon but someone here said that they do manual review so the decision is final.

They sound great though so we may try again in 6 months.
Filed Chapter 13 April 2012. Case successfully closed May 2017, about 1 month after 60th payment. FAKO scores on close date: TU 695 EQ 697. Received discharge July 11th - took forever! Real EX day of discharge 624.

Hi Danvilleduck,

I've had Juniper for over 1 year now and still have the same lousy $500 CL! I have no late pays and after 6 months I requested the increase and they said it wasn't available. I PIF and haven't used the card since. This card gets a BIG THUMBS DOWN people!!!

Hi l9ikjam,

Don't hold your breath with Juniper. I've had my card over 1 year and I'm still at $500. I have a perfect payment record with them and all of my creditors. They declined me for an increase. Thumbs down to this CC.

Lots of these small to mid size credit unions have been besieged by applications over the course of the past couple of years. They can not handle the volume of apps and in most cases are inferior to the larger ones in every way anyway.

I would stick with the largest ones. Navy Penfed and the like. Do a Google search for 50 largest credit unions and you will see who has what. Stick with the ones who have federal charters.

I have $24.5K on two Junny cards and have never had a problem.  Thier CLIs are small, but I get gas and books for free, so they are keepers

If you qualify for USAA, I'd talk to them- emphasis on "talk".  Their customer service is excellent, and they should be able to let you know if they can help.

I have a MC with them and am quite happy with it.
