I was recently approved for a car loan so I wanted to offset the new tradeline with with another Amex (backdated to 1995). I decided to pull the trigger on a 3rd Amex card. I currently have an Amex PR Gold ($30K+ approved spending limit) and an Amex Clear card ($7,500 CL).
Unfortunately, I was approved for a $200 credit line. I would have almost preferred to have been denied. I know my goal was to offset the new tradeline's age, but with a $200 limit? Really? Utilization was around 16%... I think I am going to see how much of a score boost I get before I decide on whether or not to close the account...
Current Credit Lines
Chase Freedom = $11,000.00
Amex PR Gold = no limit ($30,000+ approved spending limit)
Amex Clear = $7,500.00
Barclay Apple Card = $5,000.00
BofA Cash Rewards = $10,000.00
BofA Platinum (Authorized User) = $15,000.00
Discover More = $6,500.00
PenFed Rewards = $5,000.00
Amex Blue Cash = $200.00

$200 !?
That's the lowest I have seen with AMEX. Before $200 there was $250 hard limit for ZYNC, but 0.0
what is your aaoa?
was it a hard inq since its a new card?
does seem low for all the other ones.
could be useful to shine your shoes with.

I feel this must be a mistake from amex. Have you called them to comfirm the limit or get a clue on why it´s so low compared with your other cards?
Are you certain that it's not $2,000 ? I've never heard of a limit that small on an AMEX revolving card.
Regardless, you can request up to 3X the CL in 60 days......

$600 then to $1800. A long way to go I suppose.
$200? This can't be right.

I second that. $200 seems way to small for a CL from Amex BC. Call and double check.

OK, here is the update...
I agree with those that said $200.00 did not sound right, so I called the number on the back of my Amex Gold card (since I do not have my new card number yet) and spoke with a great rep. She did not see the new credit line yet and unfortunately new accounts is closed at this time, but she also told me that the $200 credit line did not sound right. She had not seen a credit line that low for this card and thinks the rep may have quoted the cash advance limit in error.
Checking the status online did not help either as no credit line is indicated. I will check tomorrow morning and update the thread..

Yea $200 doesn't sound right. You would have had to really tick someone off at Amex to get a limit like that. You got any ex's, enemies who work at Amex? If not you should be good.
