Re: Really want the Gold AMEX ... Do I have a shot yet?

If you qualify for any of amex's npsl cards you will qualify for green/gold/pr gold/plat. the spending limit ends up being the same it just depends on what additional benefits you want and are willing to pay for

I have been rebuilding my credit for the past two years and am looking to this board’s veterans for some advice. I would like to get an AMEX (gold preferably, but will settle for green and upgrade in 13 months if needed).

My relevant credit information is as follows:

Credit Scores (and source): Equifax (FICO) 666 - TransUnion (FICO) 659 - Experian (CreditKarma.com) 694
Income: $155,000.00 (4..5 years at current position)
Age: 38

Installment Debt:
$65,000.00 – Student Loans
$15,500 – Car Loan

Revolving Debt:
Oldest Acct: 1994
Newest Acct: 2011

Existing Credit Cards, Balances and Credit Limits:
Discover………$550.00…..CL $3,200.00
Capital One…...$0.00……..CL $1,750.00
Orchard Bank…$0.00……..CL $400.00
Sears……....….$0.00……..CL $800.00
Bank of Amer…$0.00……..CL $1,000.00 (secured)

Utilization Rate: 7.7%

Problem Areas: Late payment on installment loan in April 2011, otherwise no late payments for almost 4 years; Charge off with date of first delinquency January 2006. 3-4 inquiries in the past 2 years (the car loan and a couple of cards in 2011)

What do you guys think? Any chance of success or am I a couple of years away?

Definetly work on GW (good willing ) the late payment on the car loan, its been a year and it should be simple near zero cost credit repair that will help your score and approval chances in the future.

And do try for AMEX card you want.

Cards: Chase Southwest 20k & CSR 17k & CSP 10k & FNBO 30k Oregon Duck 5k, & AMEX BCP 32.5k & Amex Magnet 15k&amg; Hilton Surpass 7.5k & Delta Gold 12k & Zync NPSL, Fidelity AMEX 17k Commerce5.9k & Cash Forward 7.5k & Sams Club MC 20k, Paypal Extras MC 10k, Paypal Credit 7.25k CapOne Venture 15k, QS 2.5k, QS 750, Amazon 10k, Walmart 10k, Citi Simplicity 18k, Discover IT 23k and a nice stack of store cards.

The credit rebuilding forum has tons of these GW letter samples...  just keep in mind that it needs to be specific to your circumstances at the time.

FICO 9:

So what happened? I read 4 pages of comments and there's no conclusion. It's like watching an interesting movie and then ending leaves you hanging.  Man Frustrated
