Received invitation from Chase but no special offers?

A couple of weeks ago I got an invitation to apply for Chase Freedom. It did have an opt-out notice on it. Just out of curiosity I decided to check my special offers on the Chase website. I was told they didn't have anything for me. Does this mean that I would have been denied if I had accepted the invite and applied? Also for the future, if anything ever pops up under special offers, should I take that as a sign I'm likely to be approved? Thanks.

Re: Received invitation from Chase but no special offers?

I dont think that no offers means you wont be approved. I just checked myself and was not offered anything. I do have a chase card that I got last year and my credit report looks much better today than it did when I was approved for that chase card.  As far as approved for offers, YMMV as I was denied a wells fargo card even though it was in my offers online and a banker mentioned it when I was in the branch...

I see. Thanks. I'll continue to play the waiting game a bit longer so I can get better terms.

I received an invitation for the Slate and the Freedom. I applied for the Slate first and was approved, ten days later I applied for the Freedom and was also approved. Both card have a $4500 credit line....

I wouldn't read too much into it. Computers go through and scan the credit reports of people, if you pass their initial sniff test algorithm (whatever it may be) they might send you a preapproval offer. It is no guarantee of approval in any way, but I think it's fair to say if you were targetted that you have a better chance of approval.
