Recieved new REI card, but found a mailer for 0% intro APR

Last week I applied for a new REI Visa Signature card from USBank. Got a decent CL of $6k and the card came in the mail earlier this week. Today I was looking through last week's junk mail and I found a pre-approval letter from REI Visa for a 12 month 0% intro apr. GRRRRR!

CSR suggested I fax the mailer to the underwriting department with my new account number attached. They "may" grant me the 0% APR.

I think I'll call the backdoor underwriter number in the morning first.

Anyone ever backdoor their way to a 0% apr like this?

Do you mind me asking what your FICO scores are? Any baddies? I'm a TOTAL REI junkie and would love this card but I'm afraid to apply, get a ding, and be turned down.

Re: Recieved new REI card, but found a mailer for 0% intro APR

When they pulled my TU it said 726 which I've NEVER seen in any of my credit report pulls, FAKO, VANTAGE, PLUS, whatever.....one 30 day late from 2010 for Macys (I was on vacation). A verizon lien for $122 on my equifax from 2010 that has been paid.

I recon'd the application too after I got the dreaded 7 to 10 day message. USBank CSR and UW are very pleasant to talk to.

I'm hoping they apply the 0% retroactively. I've got my eye on a nice new Cannondale CAADX. Smiley Happy

@Anonymous.  It wasn't US Bank, it was a local credit union...but shortly after applying and being approved for a card last year, I called and asked what promotions they had for balance transfers...got 12 months @ zero percent.  Smiley Happy

Re: Recieved new REI card, but found a mailer for 0% intro APR

Update: I talked to UW over at USBank and they forwarded me to customer service. The CSR said that they would in all likelihood honor the 0% offer. I just had to fax them the offer letter and a cover sheet explaining the situation including the last four digits of my new REI visa.

Incidently, as a result of applying for this card, I also bought a new REI membership not realizing I already had a membership at REI. the offer letter had my old membership number and went to an old address. The CSR over at REI had no problem merging my two memberships into the newer membership number to match with the associate visa. Additionally they are refunding the cost of one of the memberships.

I love REI!
