Goal Score Across the Board:

You already have NFCU at $10k. That is an excellent starting point. I would not rush into any more apps until your scores get closer to 700, you will get better results then, and you have enough credit to use until then.

The CapOne card, use that regularly and PIF, and with CapOne it is more a matter of time. After you have 6+ months, a year certainly, you'll likely be able to go for a higher limit CapOne card like the Quicksilver.

In the interim, just research cards and see if USAA gives CLI. To repeat, you've already got a good base to start from, wait for the scores to rise closer to 700 then try.

Re: Recommended Score for Good Credit Cards approvals.

Everybody is right in here. Take into consideration what is going to be the used of the credit card that your going to apply. Some credit card may have about the same benefits and it is just up to you which one you prefer. I am still in the rebuilding stage. I got 3 credit cards (1 secured card and 2 unsecured card) and 1 store card and I am satisfied with it for now. I am in gardening them until December. Maybe my score will be there where I can get approve to the 4 cards I want. After that, I will stop applying unless I needed so. I don't think I can keep up with too many credit cards. I just ultimately want to have a better credit score.
From what I notice in here, scores need to be around 670+ in order for you to have a really good chance along with minimal derogatory. It all depends on your credit profile.
Good luck to your future endeavors and update us here.

Re: Recommended Score for Good Credit Cards approvals.

At 600 scores, probably only secured cards and store cards

At 620 score, NFCU, Capital One Platinum/Prestige cards

At 650 scores, Synchrony backed VISA like Chevron/Texaco, and possibly Cap1 Venture and Quicksilver

At 660 scores, Barclay Rewards (although I've seen lower approvals as long as you have no new accounts within last 6 months)

At 680 you can start cracking AMEX, Citibank and USBank

At 700 you'll get most approvals although not the highest limits and/or higher APR's

At 740 pretty much skies the limit...anything higher is just gravy and buffer

Some cards are really picky aboput inquiries and new accounts no matter how high your score.  For example, I was denied an ETFCU card for having too many accounts.  There have also been reports of Chase denials based on too many new accounts despite high FICO scores.

Re: Recommended Score for Good Credit Cards approvals.

I usually try the creditboards database:

https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?app=creditpulls

You can search for a card and see what score people have been approved with.
