Recon Sucess with Barclay"s

I never had the nerve to recon a declined app in the past, so it's a big deal for me.  I applied for the BJ's Visa card since I do a lot of shopping there and can increase my BJ's member reward points for things I'd buy anyway.  I got the 7 to 10 day message and got the denial in the mail over the weekend.  I figured it couldn't hurt to recon and called the back door number to recon since my credit file may not fit the computer model, but it may be more acceptable to a live person.  I was approved for $750 CL - not much but it beats a zero and I didn't want to waste the INQ.  BTW- thanks for all those who responded to my previous post I fired First Premier.  Definitely doing the happy dance.

7/11/08: EQ: 635, TU: 658, EX: 607
10/10: TU 634, EQ 626, Ex 626
9/14/2012: TU 622, EQ 660
10/16/2012: TU 731, EQ 706 - finally on my way!

Re: Recon Sucess with Barclay"s

Congrats! Did they state the reason for denial in the first place? They denied my recon last week :smileysad:

CONGRATS!!!

I think I would call back in and see if they can raise that CL a little bit.

Re: Recon Sucess with Barclay"s

I love Barclay's.... I app'ed for the Travelcity Amex.. Got denied.. Called for a recon, got approved for $1,500.. Then the ultra nice rep (I still remember her name!) said if I needed to do bal xfers, she'd call me back in a few days to allow me to get my accounts and amounts together. So.. She called me back actually earlier than the time we agreed upon and increased my limit to $6,500, which was wayyy more than I asked for ($5,000). So hit or miss...who knows, but that Barclay's C Analyst was one of the nicest Ive ever spoke to...unlike Citi or BoA, not bc I got approved, but because she was just nice 

Thats awesome!!!

I tried to get a small increase on my new World MC rewards Barclaycard but they said no due to other accounts reporting balances and not enough payment history on them.
