Could someone explain the redemption process of citigold TY points? I'm going to close my citigold account and want to cash out my TY points. I was looking to redeem and it seems like my points are worth less than a penny per point. I have the prestige card and I am trying to get the 1.6 cents per point redemption rate when used on AA tickets. How do I do this?
By booking an AA flight on the Thank You travel portal

I'm not seeing it. I click travel and I book an AA flight and I get the following price quote: 40,350 Points + $149.57 or I can pay $452.20 in cash. This seems completely wrong as if I have 40k points they should be worth more than $400 on AA flights. Maybe I am misreading this.
Hmm I think I found it, but my TY points are all combined into one lump sum. Will citi automatically use my TY points from my bank account signup first if I redeem on AA? I don't want them to use up my TY points from credit cards which I can transfer to travel partners.

I just checked with mine for a first class round trip ticket from DCA to LAS and it's either 59761 points or $956.18 which is exactly 1.6 cents per point. Not sure what you're doing wrong

Not sure how that works. JSUCool76 probably knows

See above. I think I found it. I was using a different link I think which was not the travel portal.

Yes, since those have an expiration date, the system will automatically use those before using your TYP from you Prestige.

Hmm. They don't show has having an expiration date on the website. I know they will once I downgrade the bank account
