Refund to replacement card?

You once bought an item and are now returning it, at which time the store issues a refund to the original card to take effect within a few business days. But what if the card was lost between then and now, followed by the credit card company issuing a replacement card with another account number? I'm not sure what would happen!

Re: Refund to replacement card?

The refund will still go through and be posted to the new account. It may take a few more days than normal though, depending on the bank.

With Chase, the refund usually still goes through with little to no delay.

For WF, it does take up to an additional week than normal for the refund to post.

Not sure about other banks.

But generally refunds have no problems going through since they do not need to do an authorization charge.
