Restaurants/commission?

So today went out to eat and the little machine to pay said "Make sure you use your American Express"

Do restaurants get any commission or lower swipe fee if you use the card they advertise? Because I always see Discover or Amex on the little black bill thing.

Re: Restaurants/commission?

You mean the bill cover/holder?

One restaurant I went to used a discover bill holder/cover and didn't even accept discover. I was like what the f***?

Re: Restaurants/commission?

I'm pretty sure all of those bill covers/holders are supplied to them by the transaction processor they use. Doubtful they get commission, it's just something they don't need to buy.
