Btw, the Chase decline had my score at 680 based on their internal scoring system.
I just got a Chase Freedom initial credit line of $4000 first go around. The day they pulled it (7/25) my EX FICO was 652. Today, I got a Citi Forward for $6000 first go round and the EX FICO they pulled was 680? Strange upward jump of 28 points in three days . . . is that normal?
Starting Score: EX: 652 FICO | TU: ??? FICO | EQ ??? FICO Current Score: EX: 760 FICO | TU: 737 FICO | EQ: 754 FICO Goal Score: EX: 750 FICO | TU: 750 FICO | EQ: 750 FICO | |

Chase (or Citi) could be using an internal system as mentioned, though I had thought Chase was FICO in their letters. That said, there's different versions of FICO being used on the market today as well even for just Experian: FICO '04 vs. FICO '08, and pull type: Classic vs. Credit-Enhanced industry options are the main suspects, which still leaves 4 different scores possible from either of those two lenders... so they might not match.
I was denied the Barclay United Airlines card last week. Since I already had the American Airlines card I figured I would just let the United one go, but after reading this thread I decided to recon.
I talked to a very nice lady who asked a few questions about why my file was thin and mentioned the inquires. I told her I was rebuilding for the purpose of buying a house and assured her that I was not in "need" of all the cards I apped for, but rather wanted to use each one for the rewards and special programs. She put me on hold for 3 minutes then came back and approved me for $1500. She also told me to call back in 6 months and they may be able to raise that limit.
I have to say I am impressed with Barclay. They seemed to genuinely understand and wanted to help. While the card will be too late for my August trip (and not enough of a limit), I will use the card for other things.
