Reward card reward changes

Hey all,

First time post. I carry a couple of platinum cards, one charge, for the sole benefit of having a large line of credit and usually do not worry about rewards. However, I have been very insterested in the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred and the US Bank Cash+. I am hesitant to apply for a card simply for rewards as I have heard stores of reward amounts being altered by the credit card company without warning. I guess my questions is, what is the probability, and possibility, of this happening? I would hate to have a small credit limit on a card I was only planning on using for rewards.

I appreciate the help from you guys who know way more about credit scoring than I ever will.
