Ritz and United status

Was looking at my Platinum Rewards today and noticed that I can status with United because of my Platinum status!!

Platinum status with ritz or marriott will get you silver status with united. Platinum Premier status with ritz or marriott will get you united gold.

Gold, plat, 1k and global services united members get free marriott gold. Little lopsided in my opinion, but that is okay.
