Thanks, I wasn't really sure it was that great because I didn't know if I could make the spend. It turns out though, my bills alone add up to $490 each month lol! So I think I can probably do it.

easy $100 lol. do you use your card much or no? i have only put about $2,500 or so on mine since 06/06
Actually, I've only used it for gas. Probably a total of 6 or 7 transactions since I got it in June.
The less i use the card the more offers i get. ie, no use at all. I got the same offer today as OP, but 3% doesn't seem as exciting to me right now bceuase of my discover it miles card

yeah i haven't gotten any offers but have only had it since 06/06/2015I got approved for my Sallie Mae on 6/20/15 and yesterday received my first bonus offer:
That is a terrific offer!
I must be algorithmically challenged when it comes to Barclays becuase I've had a Sallie Mae card for over a year and a half and only get offers for balance transfers (blah). I'd love to crack the bonus offer code!
To be honest none of their bonus offers ever seem very exciting, although some people get more valuable ones than others. But ones for 3% on a couple categories do not seem that enticing when one has a Double Cash. Like I mention often, an extra 1% does not boil down to much money. Barclay's is hoping that one takes the offer and spends more on the "bonus" categories than they otherwise would.
OP, Don't forget also that booking travel through Discover on Discover Deals/Orbitz/Travelocity for 5% is still a better deal than using the Sallie in this case, and your Discover beats the department store bonus.
@ jaylau - I got that offer too! I'm so excited, that's my first ever Sallie Mae bonus offer!!! It's not -that- much but I will use the department stores for Christmas shopping and definltey the toy/game stores.
I also want the other offer next time -- I spend at least $500+ a month on Sallie Mae anyway!!
I've had Sallie Mae since last December and this is my first bonus offer.
