So i'm debating weather to give my sams card a little more action due to the recent changes in the rewards program...5% gas, 3% restraurants and 3% travel.
Reservations -
1. Once a year redemption (in club only)
2. Only redeemable for purchases at Sam's (?)
I'd be giving up about 60$ a year minimum versus what i'm currently using...is it worth the hassle? I do grocery shop and get gas there so the card will most likely be used any way ...just not as meaningful as me using it for all gas, dining and travel purchases.
Thoughts?

I don't understand your situation! If your current approach gives you $60 minimum that using the Sams card, why would you change? Or is the point it would be less hassle just to use the Sams card? If the latter only you can answer if the reduced hassle is worth $60+!
You can cash the check at Sam's it's up to you if you want to use it for purchases.
If i had an sams club in my state i would think about the sams club MC. 5 % gas and 3% restaurants seems like an pretty good deal to me.

I live in ct , closest one is in Elmsford NY up 287. I don't know if I shop enough to warrant both having Costco and Sam's club membership

That one is really far away I never go north of Bridgeport so really inconvenient for me. How do you like Sam's club vs Costco

There is no costco around here. I would have to go to enfield, too far away. But there are a couple of BJ's around. Its pretty similar, but no hot dog combo at BJ's. They had self serve check outs before sams and they take coupons. Idk my dad and I have been sams club members sense 1999. I was able to get my membership renwed this year for 25 after a 20 dollar gift card. So not a bad deal at all. Its worth it for the premium gas. I save 30 cents a gallon from filling up in my town.

Closest bjs is in Fairfield used to be member there before Costco in Norwalk opened which is an lot closer. They all seem to be very similar to me .I have only been into a Sam's club in pa before
