I have the store card, not the Visa or MC or whatever it is. They hate me. I have a limit of $500. I've had the card since 1996, no lates, no love when I ask for limit increases. I use the card every 3-4 months and pay it off immediately. They don't like that at all.
My plan is to go to them if I ever need a large purchase (i.e. appliance) and get the "emergency" increase. I don't know how else to get love from them without charging constantly, which I don't need/want to do.
Are you serious? That is ridiculous! I figured I'd just apply and if they gave me a low CL then I could just work on increasing it over the next year. I usually only buy Craftsman tools and lawn equipment and when I buy a house in another year I'm sure I'd want to buy Kenmore appliances. $500 won't go very far when needing to buy washer/dryer, refridgerator, lawn mower, etc. **bleep**.
I'm an AU on my parent's account, which was opened in 1972 and has a $12,000 CL. My address is different from theirs so I'm not sure if that would make a difference with their decision.
I don't know, I just hope you have better luck than I did/am having! I'll never close it, though. Oldest account with perfect history. Here's the REAL kicker, it's only reporting to Experian. I can't seem to get it to report on the other two. It used to, then one day, it didn't...
ETA: Check out my score history - you'll see that Experian is always higher - and the above is the reason why.
My dad added me to his account about two weeks ago. They're also just reporting to EX for me, but I figured that was just because they're the only ones who have my parents address on my CR.
I was looking forward to pulling my EX score one last time tomorrow since my Dad's 37 year old Sears account started reporting and I had one collection of $5,000 and a CO of $7,500 deleted. Then I just received a notification yesterday that RJM is reporting a colleciton for like $50 that isn't even mine! ugggghh
I just bought something at Sears an hour ago, and the cashier wanted me to apply for the Sears card. I guess he was somehow surprised about the vehemence of my "NO!". I still had those damning reports from you guys in my head, I guess .
Anyway, he said I'd get $50 off my $80 purchase. Always these carrots .
