I opened a savings account with BOFA and I applied for the secured card within a week. No credit check, no questions asked. Voila, I got my card.
Sometimes you just get lucky. I think they check less thoroughly if you are a BOFA customer.
P.S. I actually owe BOFA $$ 2k for an overdraft account which I'm settling with a collection agency.
